Fine art illustration of a Red Kangaroo (Macropus rufus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color. Artist’s notes: I couldn’t decide whether to draw the red kangaroo in mid-jump or standing still. I found a good photo to work from and went with this pose. When I draw an animal at times I’m amazed how unfamiliar the actual anatomy of what I considered a familiar animal actually is. What really struck me was the totally bizarre legs of the kangaroo. They’re really not like anything else I’ve ever drawn. The red kangaroo, along with the koala, are the only Australian mammals I’ve drawn so far. I’ll probably draw an echidna and Tasmanian devil at some point. The drawing is based on a photo by Robert Nyman.
