Information about the American Lobster: The American Lobster is a species of crustacean generally found in cold, shallow waters on the northern coasts of North America. It’s also called the Maine, Northern or Atlantic Lobster. It is primarily nocturnal, feeding on small fish, other crustaceans and mollusks. They range in length from about 8-24 inches, but there have been record sized lobsters nearly a yard long weighing over 40 pounds.
