Information about the Pygmy Falcon The Pygmy Falcon – also called the African Pygmy Falcon – is a small bird of pray native to the the dry brush areas of eastern and southern Africa. It is the smallest species of raptor native to that continent. As the name implies, this bird is very small – only 7.5 inches long (19 cm). It feeds on insects, small mammals and birds. In the wild, Pygmy Falcons will nest in homes made by weaver birds.
