Information about the Altum Angelfish: The Altum Angelfish – sometimes called the Deep Angelfish or Orinoco Angelfish – is a variety of freshwater fish and a member of the cichlid family. It is the largest of the genus and a very popular and common aquarium fish. In the wild, this angelfish can be found in the Orinoco River Basin and the Upper Rio Negro watershed in Southern Venezuela, Southeastern Colombia and extreme Northern Brazil. It is not believed to occur anywhere else. Angelfish are ambush predators and feed on small fish and very small invertebrates. Like all of the genus Pterophyllum these fish choose a partner and form monogamous couples.
